10 Days in Proverbs

Day 1
TOPIC:  Foolishness vs. Wisdom

1.  Read the following proverbs ~ 1:7, 2:2-6, 3:5-8.

2.  Write out Proverbs 3:5-8.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* From what does knowledge begin?
* Who despises wisdom and instruction?
* To whom does God give wisdom?
* What does God do for those who trust in Him and acknowledge His
ways? 
* What do reverence for the Lord and abhorrence of evil do for our
bodies?

4.  Ask God to help you trust in Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  

Day 2
TOPIC:  The Heart

1.  Read and write out the following proverbs ~15:28, 17:3, 17:22, 27:19.

2.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* Reword Proverb 15:28.
* What does the Lord do with our hearts?  Why do you think He does
this?
* Considering Proverb 17:22, why do you think the Lord tells us at
I Thessalonians 5:16 to be joyful always?
* Looking at Proverb 27:19, what kind of person is reflected by your
heart?

3.  Ask God to help you be joyful always regardless of your circumstances.

Day 3
TOPIC:  The Tongue and Honesty vs. Lying

1.  Read the following proverbs ~ 4:24, 10:18-21, 12:22, 13:3, 19:22, 21:6.

2.  Write out Proverbs 10:18-21.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* Why is it better to think before you speak?
* Why is lying such an abomination to God?

4.  If you need to confess to God any untruthfulness, do so now.  Ask Him to help you to have a clean heart and lips.   

Day 4
TOPIC:  Friends & Neighbors and Love

1.  Read the following proverbs ~ 10:12, 11:9, 12:26, 17:9, 26:18-19, 27:17.

2.  Write out Proverbs 26:18-19.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* Write in your own words the meaning of Proverbs 26:18-19.

4.  Ask God to help you love your "neighbor" as yourself.
      
Day 5
TOPIC:  Giving and Wealth

1.  Read the following proverbs ~ 11:24, 15:16-17, 16:8, 16:16.

2.  Write out Proverbs 15:16-17.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* Write in your own words the meaning of Proverbs 15:16-17.

4.  Ask God to help you want Him more than any earthly treasures.
   
Day 6
TOPIC:  Home and Parents

1.  Read the following proverbs ~ 1:8-9, 6:20-24, 10:1, 13:1, 15:5, 17:1, 19:26, 20:20, 22:6, 24:3-4, 29:15.

2.  Write out Proverbs 6:20-24.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* What should I do with the teachings of my father and mother?
* If I do that, what will those teachings do for me?
* According to Proverbs 6:23, what are the commandments,
teachings, and disciplines of your parents?

4.  Thank God for the commandments, teachings, and disciplines of your parents.  

Day 7
TOPIC:  Honor and Pride vs. Humility

1.  Read and write out Proverbs 3:35, 15:33, 16:19, 20:3, 21:21, 22:4, 27:2, 29:23.

2.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* Describe pride and humility, and explain which one is honored by
the Lord and why.

3.  Ask God to help you show humility and refrain from pride.
   
Day 8
TOPIC:  Anger

1.  Read Proverbs 14:17, 14:29, 15:1, 15:18, 16:32, 19:11, 22:24-25, 25:21-22, 29:22, 30:33.

2.  Write out Proverbs 15:1 and Proverbs 25:21-22.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* How can you apply Proverbs 15:1 and Proverbs 25:21-22 to your
life the next time someone says or does something that upsets or
bothers you?

4.  Ask God to give you the strength to give gentle answers to and shower kindness on those who upset you.
 
Day 9
TOPIC:  Poor and Afflicted

1.  Read Proverbs 14:31, 21:13, 22:9, 28:6, 28:27, 29:7, 31:8-9.

2.  Write out Proverbs 14:31.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* What do those who oppress the poor do to God?
* What do those who help the needy do to God?

4.  Ask God to give you an opportunity to help someone in need.

Day 10
TOPIC:  Work and Laziness

1.  Read Proverbs 6:6-11, 10:4-5, 12:11, 13:4, 14:23, 19:15, 20:4.

2.  Write out Proverbs 6:6-11.

3.  Make a journal entry that discusses the following:
* What does God think about laziness?
* What does God think about diligence and hard work?

4.  If you struggle with laziness, ask God to help you be more diligent.  If you are diligent, thank God for helping you to be a good worker.

 

     
    I suggest keeping a Proverbs journal while going through the following study.  You
  can either keep the journal on white-lined paper or print out copies of pre-made
